For those of you who suffer from the ravages of eczema and psoriasis, this article could change your life.
New research about eczema and psoriasis reveals the reason you are needlessly suffering has a great deal to do with your eating habits.
… and more specifically, how the foods you eat affect the pH balance in your body.
Over 7.5 million Americans suffer from psoriasis and another estimated 10-20% suffers from eczema.
One of the most positive steps you can take to treat, and even cure these diseases, is by understanding how the acidity in your diet not only causes, but exacerbates eczema and psoriasis.
At Living Phit, we’ll tell you not only why your diet causes these diseases, but by learning to change what you eat will help you improve these conditions dramatically.
Not up for changing your diet?
How Acidity Affects Skin Conditions Such as Eczema and Psoriasis
To maintain a healthy balance, your body is directly affected by its pH level. The pH level simply refers to the acid/alkaline balance.
The pH range is from 1-14. A neutral balance level is 7.
Anything below 7 is rated as acidic, and the lower the number – the higher the amount of acidity. The alkaline level is anything above 7 and the higher the number – the higher the alkaline level.
The optimum of peak performance that the body operates is at a pH level of 7.4 which means the body needs to be slightly alkaline.
When you consume a high acidic diet such as lots of red meats, sodas, grains and other types of foods, the body becomes more acidic or toxic.
It is a well documented fact that when the body becomes more acidic, the body’s organs have to work much harder to balance its internal pH level which it does so naturally.
When your pH levels are more acidic, the body begins to use up the minerals the body has stored.
And, the organs, such as the kidneys, have to work harder to rid itself of this acidity. To reduce the body’s acidity the body begins to deplete itself of vital minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium. Some of these vital minerals are even leached from the bones.
Other organs such as the lungs and the skin also become utilized by your body to expel the acid build-up. This means that acidic toxins which are normally expelled by the kidneys build up on the surface and within the skin.
This build-up of this acidity is one of the primary reasons why a person will break out with eczema or psoriasis!
How Alkalizing the Body Can Heal Eczema and Psoriasis
Once you understand that the body requires a diet which is around 70-80% alkaline and not more than 20-30% acidic, your body will begin to cease and reduce the acidity in your skin.
The resulting effect will make your skin:
- More alkaline and less acidic, and
- Will begin to repair your skin and greatly diminish, if not eliminate the effects of both eczema and psoriasis.
By learning which foods are alkaline and which foods are acidic you can adjust your diet to compensate for the excess of acidity in your body. As a result, you will begin to neutralize and restore the body’s homeostasis or equilibrium.
Testimonials from Actual Eczema and Psoriasis Sufferers
If you’re like me, you’re going to be skeptical about how something as simple as pH balance can be such a big factor in your skin’s health.
I was skeptical too, until I read testimonial after testimonial from people who were able to control their disease by alkalizing the body.
As you’ll see, there is something very practical behind the scientific research which shows how your pH levels are a major cause of both eczema and psoriasis.
How you Can Alkalize The Body Through Diet or Supplements
The natural way to alkalize your body is through your diet.
… although it may not be the easiest way.
It’s very clear that some of most alkalizing foods consist of dark green leafy vegetables, fruits, lentils and many others which you can find in our article on “105 High Alkaline Foods” and which foods to avoid.
Fruits are alkaline? Now, although you might think that fruits are acidic, and they are in their normal state, they actually become very alkaline when they become metabolized in the body.
Some of the most acidic foods which you should avoid altogether include alcohol, beef and pork, sugar and especially sodas!
At Living Phit we realize that it’s not always that easy to eat sensibly and achieve that perfect alkaline diet, so you can compensate for the acidic foods that you eat by using alkaline forming supplements.
These alkaline supplements consist of pH drops or pills, and will counter the negative effects of acidic causing foods.
The choices of these alkalizing supplements include such established brand names like Alkazone drops, and AlkaCare pH for example.
You’ll find all of the testimonials below are from people who used Alkalete by Yoli to manage their skin condition. Most of these were taken from a private Facebook group of Yoli members, simply sharing their success with other people who take Yoli. We did not solicit these testimonials. We simply asked permission to post them here.
However, I’ve also read many positive reviews from people who were able to manage their condition with diet alone. You can read some here.
Billie Schmidt – Severe Plaque Psoriasis
I want to share my story… I originally started with a low carb diet and YOLI because I have been struggling with weight loss for several months and nothing else was working. I was hopeful, having several people I know doing the program and having good results. I followed the program to a T but much to my dismay, wasn’t losing any weight or inches after the 1st month. I decided to give the program another month, hoping the weight loss would happen.
I suffer from severe plaque psoriasis. For those of you that aren’t familiar with it, there is no cure for it and all of the medicines out there to help control it, usually do your body more harm than good. I noticed it getting better but thought it was due to the summer months and being out in the sun more. While awaiting my 2nd months shipment, I ran out of Alkalete and was without it for 2 days. In those 2 days, my psoriasis flared back up pretty bad. It was then that I realized the Alkalete was drastically helping my psoriasis.
After 2 months of the program not helping with weight loss, but the Alkalete being good for my psoriasis, I have cancelled everything except the Alkalete. I will be getting my 4th month of it next week. Although I’m disappointed about not losing any weight or inches on the program, I’m very grateful that my psoriasis is FINALLY under control and looks AWESOME!!!!! So, thank you healthy food choices and YOLI, for helping a girl out!!!!!
Sherri Rasmussen – Psoriasis
I have psoriasis on my body and scalp… Have been on loading dose 2 weeks now. Huge difference on my body already! Scalp is tougher I think, but I do believe a healthy lifestyle and Yoli in conjunction with increased water intake are helping tremendously.
Julie Clausen Sheppard – Eczema
I’m so excited to share this. I have not worn white cotton gloves for over a month now! Bye Bye Eczema!
I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed me various steroid creams trying to find 1 that would work. When I heard about Yoli I thought that it might do the trick. I have 2 admit, I became frustrated when no results after 1 month, even after 2 months . The suggestion I go gluten free was made. But really, after the past 3 weeks of not really eating the healthiest I don’t believe that was it.
My body just needed more time to repair and heal!
Wade Miller – Eczema and Psoriasis
I have eczema and slight psoriasis also. I have been on my new alkaline diet and Yoli since November 18th 2013 and I am completely free of any of it as of right now. No itching, no patches of dry skin or nothing.
Juliann Walter – Psoriasis
I used to receive painful shots in my elbows for years to rid myself of psoriasis. Nothing really helped.
Now I have the best elbows in Webster County Iowa.
My friend Pam Usera started her 2 year old on one packet of Alkalete every day in his milk a few weeks ago. He has severe allergies and eczema and she contacted me as she had heard about the Alkalete and how ph balance could help his eczema. She brought him to see me the other day (about 3 weeks in) and he looks amazing. She said he is no longer itching either!!
The pic on left was after a major flare up right before he started and pic on right was taken one week after starting alkalete!! Yoli’s optimal health is truly for everyone!!!
Barbi Kanter – Painful Psoriasis
My husband has very painful psoriasis and is taking biologicals thru his dermatologist. Alkalete has helped him to go much longer between treatments and he no longer has any pain! No more cracking, bleeding skin:)
Krista Vallejo Nixon – 6 year old son with Peeling Hands
I’m not one to talk about myself with others and I was a big skeptic about this Yoli Buisness. But I tell you all, that I am a believer!
First I started the new lifestyle program after my sister talked me into it. Had nothing to lose and everything to gain. If I lost weight great, if I had more energy great. So I started on July 11, 2014 at 150.5 lbs. Today I’m 143.5 and six inches thinner in my waist alone! I love the passion! I have not had one soda or coffee since!
My new alkaline diet and Yoli has changed my family as well. My youngest son, 6y/o had a new problem of peeling hands. They were like lizard skin, peeling like crazy and he would pick until he had sores. I started giving him the alkelete and with in 6 days his hands were healed. No peeling what so ever. I even canceled my dr appt I made, because it was so much better by the time he could see him. It was amazing!
Jessica Kapler – Breakout or Rash
My 17 Year old son, Michael, had some sort of breakout on his face. I had him take Alkalete in the morning and night. Here are his pictures after 3 days!
Jason Dana – Son with Eczema
My 5 yr old son has had severe eczema since he was a baby. He’s allergic to cats, dogs and peanut butter. Any contact with animals, or just hot weather cause his symptoms intensify! He’s consistently had rough scabbed and sometimes bloody skin behind his knees, the creases of his arms and in the folds of his neck. I can’t remember a day where we weren’t telling him to stop scratching. It’s honestly heartbreaking to watch him scratch until he bleeds, but I know he can’t stop. We’ve tried every lotion, cream, supplement with no noticeable relief to his symptoms. Around 5/2014 my friend, Chris Huntley, told me about the low carb diet and Yoli Alkalete and how it helped his wife with similar symptoms she was having from wearing her wedding ring. I’ve read some things about how our bodies do better when our ph balance is more alkaline so I was intrigued. At this point, I’d almost try anything. We bought a bottle to try it out. At first, we’d empty the capsule and mix with water or juice. After a few times, he just swallowed the pills with no problem. The results weren’t immediate. However, he wasn’t scratching as much. His eczema scabbed skin was so bad that it wasn’t until about 3-4wks when we really started noticing his skin looking better. Almost all the scabs have healed and I noticed I wasn’t constantly telling him to stop scratching.
I definitely feel our lifestyle changes have helped my son’s eczema because we recently went on a 10 day vacation and forgot to bring the Yoli bottle and his eczema flared up again. Now we’re back home and he’s taking it again. We’ve been religiously giving him the alkaline system and applying eczema cream to keep his skin moisturized. Hoping to get his skin back to the way it was prior to our trip.

As mentioned earlier, while acidity is a major contributing factor to skin health, it’s not the only one.
Many of the testimonials above come from people who not only took alkalizing measures, but also were on Yoli’s Better Body System, which includes a weight loss component, probiotics, and healthy drink replacements for soda and coffee.
According to Dr. Angie Cross, other than due to a poor diet, many skin condition causes may be autoimmune related, hormone related, or related to gut health.
So if you have eczema or psoriasis, while an alkaline diet or alkalizing supplement may be helpful to you, you should set up a consultation with Dr. Jeff Ring to discuss your health in more detail here, or call us at 619-922-0022 to speak to a Phit coach.
