Do you add sugar or various creamers to your morning coffee?
If so, you're not alone. Millions of people do this everyday to enjoy the energy boosting effects of coffee without the harsh bitter taste of having it black.
I urge you to give this simple, quick, and delicious healthy coffee recipe a try!
Even if you don't mind black coffee, this can be a great option since the addition of healthy fats helps to slow the absorption of caffeine so you get a more stable boost of energy without the crash.
Butter in your Coffee?
The notion of adding butter in your coffee was first introduced to me by Paul Chek, one of the pioneers in the field of health and wellness.
It became popularized by Dave Asprey and caught on quick since the taste is fantastic and there is good science behind the health benefits.
Pounding a cup of black coffee often results in a rush of caffeine all at once which can cause jitters, anxiety, and a harsh crash a couple hours later.
Adding healthy fats like butter to your coffee helps to slow the release of caffeine so you avoid that issue and get a stable energy boost without the crash.
The butter also helps to improve absorption of the nutrients in the coffee making it healthier for your body.
The addition of butter is a far superior choice over milk or half and half since it contains less lactose and compounds found in milk many people respond poorly to, as well as more butyric acid which has been shown to lower brain inflammation and be very good for our bodies.
If you are very sensitive to dairy, try using grass-fed ghee instead of butter for a more isolated form of fat.
Cinnamon is one of my all-time favorite spices!
It tastes delicious and has very powerful antioxidant properties that can reduce free radicals and have anti-inflammatory effects.
It's one of the best foods for diabetics since it helps to stabilize blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity! For this reason it's also great for weight loss!
The health benefits of cinnamon & amazing flavor make it the perfect spice to add to your healthy coffee recipe.
Always go for ceylon cinnamon which is a superior and healthier variety than the commonly found variety called cassia.
Phit tip: Store your cinnamon in the freezer after opening which will help to preserve the valuable nutrients and prevent degradation.
Benefits of Stevia
Stevia is a natural sweetener derived from an herb. It's a zero-calorie/zero-sugar sweetener that gets it's sweet flavor from compounds in the plant called steviol glycosides.
Regular stevia can taste pretty lousy mixed into coffee so I personally only use stevia for making lemonade or limeade since the sourness of the citrus works wonderfully well with the stevia to make it taste like sugar.
One of my favorite companies who has very high-quality, organic stevia called "Stevita" makes this incredible tasting stevia sweetened chocolate powder.
This is a must have ingredient for this coffee recipe as well as for baking or making any type of chocolate flavored desserts (even for smoothies).
It's affordable, delicious, and a healthy option for getting that sweet chocolatey taste!
